The Path to Evensong

A cobbled path descends between two dry-stone walls toward the illuminated apse of Beget's church, barely visible in the distance. A single lantern lights the first stretch of the route, leaving the rest of the path to the shadows. The sky, crossed by a diffuse beam of light through the clouds, lends an almost ceremonial air to this way that leads, night after night, toward the same destination.
