The Vault and the Moon: Albarracín

A stone arch opens the frame like a mouth of shadow, and beyond it Albarracín arranges itself into two paths: one of cobblestones climbing to the left under a cold lunar light, another descending to the right between amber lanterns. Between them, a hanging house pushes its wooden overhang out over the void, held by beams that have been repeating the same gesture for centuries. The moon, barely suggested behind the haze, turns the cobbles into a river of silver. This is the photograph of a threshold: the exact moment the visitor has to choose.
