Ascent Into Stone

A stone stairway, worn smooth by generations, climbs between two centuries-old façades, lit by a single iron lantern hanging beside the number five. There is no other light than that — no digital fill, no supporting flash — only the natural contrast between the deep shadow of the walls and that one pool of glow guiding the steps. Bougainvillea and potted boxwood frame the passage, a reminder that Beget is still inhabited, that these stones are home, not ruin.
