Blue Hour Fleet: Lake Banyoles

Six rowing boats, anchored in a row on the still water of Lake Banyoles, as the day's last rose-coloured glow dissolves behind the mountains. There is no wind, not a single ripple: the boats' reflection on the water is as sharp as the boats themselves, and for a moment the scene duplicates itself.

This piece pursues the same stillness I chase in the stone of the medieval villages, transposed here to the natural landscape: calm as the subject, not the backdrop. The deep blue of the water and the dramatic, moving sky create a composition that works both as a contemplative piece and as a chromatic anchor for a space with generous natural light.
