Pebble Shore: Cadaqués

The pebble beach stretches toward the row of whitewashed houses in Cadaqués, still awake at this hour thanks to the arched porches that open, one after another, onto the seafront promenade. The sky is thick with clouds that barely let a diffuse light through, and the sea, completely still, doubles every lit streetlamp into a thread of light on the water.

The moon doesn't need to appear for the scene to work: it's enough to have that succession of arches, doors and balconies fading into the distance, and the certainty that behind each lit window someone is still awake while the whole village seems to sleep.
