Crescent Cove: Cala Sant Francés

Above Cala Sant Francés, in Sant Feliu de Guíxols, the moon arrived as a crescent just as the town below began lighting its windows. The sea lay perfectly still — barely a breath of waves against the rocks — and the castle crowning the cliff glowed warm against the deep blue of the night.

It's an image of stillness, almost suspension: the same silence I look for in the stone of medieval villages, carried here to the Catalan coast. There's no urgency in the composition, only the quiet certainty that the town stays awake under the moon, as it has for centuries.
