Corridor of Light: Barcelona

At the far end of a narrow alley in the Gothic Quarter, a lit doorway breaks the darkness like a beacon. A solitary figure walks toward it, and the contrast between the cold, shadowed stone and that warm glow turns the scene into something almost cinematic.

I'm drawn to photographing Barcelona through its in-between spaces — the alleys almost no one photographs because they have no monument to justify them, yet they tell as much about the city as any Modernista façade.
