Chromatic Passage: The Roman Bridge, Mérida

A single row of arches on the Roman Bridge of Mérida is divided into two distinct light temperatures: the warm amber of the nearer spans gives way to the cool green of the monument's floodlighting on the far bank. The perfectly still water doubles both tones in a mirror beneath a cloudless sky.

This chromatic contrast — uncommon within the photographer's nocturnal series — reveals how the same Roman stonework can read in two distinct registers depending on where the light falls, a reminder that the monument remains very much alive, woven into the fabric of present-day Mérida.
