Crimson Deluge: Correfocs, Barcelona

A shower of red sparks falls over the crowd like a liquid curtain — the culminating moment of a Correfocs run, in which fire completely takes over the frame. The people, reduced to silhouettes, shield themselves and press forward at the same time, surrendered to the ritual.

Unlike other pieces in this series, here the fire doesn't accompany the scene — it saturates it. I wanted an image that felt almost like a deluge, hence the title, one that carried the physical intensity of being inside the run, camera in hand.
