Every summer, fire returns to the streets of Barcelona. The Correfocs — heirs to a centuries-old Catalan tradition — turn the pavement into a river of sparks: devils, drums and flares moving through a crowd that runs, laughs, and shields itself with whatever is at hand. As a photojournalist, I have spent years documenting this festival from inside the run itself; this piece is the first time that same street discipline has been translated into the language of fine art.
There is no flash and no post-production intervention: only the real red and gold light of the pyrotechnics, captured at the instant the rain of sparks falls over the silhouettes of the crowd. The result reads less as festival documentation than as a study in controlled chaos — the same rigor I bring to the silent stone of the medieval villages, applied here to the burning pulse of the street.
