Threshold of the Ancient Wall

Girona's walls, of Roman origin and later extended in Carolingian and medieval times, still enclose much of the Barri Vell and can be walked along the Passeig de la Muralla. This piece photographs one of its access points, the exact moment where the defensive stone opens to let the inner city through, lit only by the residual light it receives from the nearby streets.
