Golden Threshold: Barcelona

A garland of warm lights crosses a stone alley in the Gothic Quarter and leads the eye to a wooden door that glows like a threshold. On either side, shop windows in cool blue light and walls of dark ashlar create a temperature contrast that renders the scene almost theatrical.

It is an image about contrast: the intimate gold of the door against the cool blue of the windows, ancient stone against the fleeting light of the bulbs. A city that, between two lights, decides to show itself.
