Lantern Alley: Barcelona

Two wrought-iron street lamps light a quiet alley in Barcelona, where stone walls, signs and wooden doors follow one another in depth. On the left, a terracotta-toned wall adds warmth to the whole and frames the street as it recedes toward a backdrop of night blue.

As in other pieces in this series, I am interested in the city of the interstices: not the monument, but the street no one photographs and that, when night falls, becomes more eloquent than any façade. Every detail, from the worn paving to the shop signs, says something about the neighborhood.
