The Pujada de Sant Domènec is one of the most characterful streets in the Barri Vell: a steep, cobbled passage that climbs past old convent walls toward the university heart of the city. Within a few metres it gathers one of the most valuable historic and artistic ensembles in Girona: the Renaissance Palace of Calemany, the Palau dels Agullana — whose covered arch spans the street from façade to façade — and, presiding over the passage from above, the baroque church of Sant Martí Sacosta. At night, free of the daily flow of students, it recovers the silence and the scale it held centuries ago — the same atmosphere that drew an acclaimed European feature film, set in 18th-century Provence, to shoot several scenes here.
