The Broken Spire: Sant Feliu

The Basilica of Sant Feliu, one of Girona's two patron churches, carries a feature unlike any other bell tower in the city: its spire, struck by lightning in 1581, was never rebuilt, leaving the tower with its distinctive flat, truncated top. That unfinished silhouette — almost an architectural scar — stands out here against the night sky beside the Onyar, lit only by the ambient light the city itself switches on each evening.
