The Aqueduct of Segovia rises nearly thirty metres over the Plaza del Azoguejo, but this photograph chooses the opposite view: from Calle Teodosio el Grande, cobbled and running parallel to the monument, the camera moves away from its tallest point and follows the arches as they lose height toward the Plaza de Díaz Sanz, where the natural terrain rises and the Roman structure is no longer needed. Classic street lamps and the balconies of the buildings along this stretch frame the mortarless granite, cut nearly two thousand years ago.
As with the rest of the series — Albarracín, Pedraza, Girona, Peratallada, Beget, Pals — no light has been added: only the street lighting already in place reveals the texture of the stone. Museum-quality Giclée print on 100% cotton Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper, limited edition of three, with certificate of authenticity.
