Eight Corinthian columns, wrapped in a golden light that rises from their base, still support the architrave of what was once one of the most important temples in ancient Augusta Emerita. Behind them, the Renaissance-era palace built quite literally within its ruins glows softly, proof that the city never stopped rewriting itself upon its own foundations.
The deep blue of dusk, not yet fully dark, wraps the scene in an almost theatrical stillness, and the columns stand like silent sentinels over nearly two thousand years of layered history.
