The stone arch dominating the composition is not a decorative element: it is the structure that organizes the entire image, the point the eye must necessarily pass through before reaching any other detail. Its mass, textured and rough, contrasts with the lightness of the cobblestones spreading at its feet, creating one of the most architecturally forceful compositions in the entire Peratallada series.
