Girona's Call Jueu preserves an almost intact medieval urban geometry: streets that rise in irregular steps, without the logic of modern planning. This photograph relies exclusively on the existing streetlamps to reveal that stepped geometry, without retouching or softening the bare texture of the stone. It is, of the entire Girona series, the piece most faithful to the historic Jewish quarter's architecture in its original state.
