A stone archway frames, from Pals's outer wall, the passage into an inner courtyard: a solitary lantern, a bare tree, and clipped hedges lining the cobbled path. Above the village, a sky heavy with clouds lets through only a diffused glow, as if the night itself were holding its breath before the rain.
Photographed using only the residual glow of the village's own street lamps, with no added light, no flash, and no digital sky replacement. Every image in this series is a faithful record of Pals after dark.
