The Sloping Lane

From the top of a cobbled lane, the eye descends toward a wooden balcony suspended over the void, held up by centuries-old beams. A single lantern is enough to reveal the texture of the stone-and-pebble walls, while the mountains surrounding Beget dissolve into the deep blue of late dusk. The slope — characteristic of a village built literally on living rock — is the composition's quiet protagonist.
