Two Kinds of Light

In the background, a moon veiled by thin clouds provides the only cold light in the composition; in the foreground, the golden glow of a solitary lamp sculpts the ancient cobblestones. It is an exercise in balancing two light temperatures that rarely coexist in a single image without digital artifice —here, both are real, captured exactly as the sky and the street offered them that night in Beget—. The tension between that distant cold and that nearby warmth sustains the entire piece.
